Nurse angel - cutting through red tape and bureaucracy

We needed to get appointments as “a new patient” with a cardiologist, a hematologist and vascular surgeon – all within 2 weeks. When called, the appointment desks said it would take between 4 – 12 weeks. We needed appoints NOW.

Red tape and bureaucracy = stress

Plain and simple. But then a nurse angel appears . . .her name was Linda. She was the thoracic surgeon’s nurse and office manager. She recognized our fear, our frustration, and our sense of urgency. She took control, and within 1 day had 3 appointments booked within 2 weeks time. She beautifully coordinated everything, calling us back with updates and asking for information. Papers were signed and faxed, medical records beautifully organized, Linda’s middle name must have been Queen Efficient.

What can I buy someone who has helped my Mom so much? Flowers aren’t everlasting, a card is too simple, an engraved plaque not appropriate.

Then it came to me … something colorful and fun, something unique and extremely unusual … something that shouts out TO LIFE, live and have fun living. Linda must deal with family’s everyday, not knowing whether their loved ones will live or die. She would surely appreciate a whimsical set of matching salad/pasta servers.

And the joy it brings ME knowing that in some small way, I can offer my gratitude and thanks, while bringing happiness & a smile.
