New Kids on the Building Block

I was browsing websites last week, finishing off some holiday shopping and following my Holiday Shopping Strategies chronicled in my blog last month. As I was searching for toys and gift ideas for the three young loves of my life, I came upon this mesmerizing site - Kapla Toys.

At first glance these might appear to be a simple box of wooden building blocks, but it's more than that. It's a box filled with magic...the magic to create.

I explored page after page of the intricately designed site and was astounded by the photo gallery of brilliant building block creations! From the Eiffel Tower to a Snowman, Bridges, Birds, Houses, Spirals - it's all possible with a little creativity and a box of Kapla Blocks. I imagined how much fun my family would have spending quality time together, constructing the Seven Wonders of the World, the White House, the Empire State Building or whatever else struck our fancies. Who knows...my kids might end up getting bit by the architecture bug.

I immediately added their most popular set to my shopping cart, a box containing 200 natural wooden planks that are kid friendly (no snaps, screws or interlocking parts), earth friendly(!) and offer hours upon hours of construction, imagination and fun. The kit includes illustrated instructions with basic building techniques. Instead of video games, I'm gifting my kids with the gift of Kapla this holiday season.

Hmmm...If I bought a set of 400 blocks, we might be able to add an extra room to the house.
