  • - Laptops for Flat Tops Giveaway - A Patriotic Cause for America's Patriots. I'm a sucker for two things - a good giveaway, and a good cause. So I was completely psyched when I heard that the online retailer, AllAmericanDirect.com, is launching their second Laptops for Flat Tops Giveaway that gives military families a chance to win two state of the art laptops fully equipped with webcams to help improve long-distance communications while their loved ones are serving the USA.

  • - Catalogs.com new mascot is the cat's pajamas. As you know, we are amping up our public relations here at Catalogs.com and decided it would be a beneficial move to integrate a mascot. Originally we were going to hold an official press conference for the public to officially meet the new face of Catalogs.com, but I couldn't wait to let the cat out of the bag.

  • - Express Yourself - How to lower your American Express Credit Card Fees. Are you tired of paying outrageously high credit card transaction fees? Of course you are. Who loves overpaying for anything, especially when the economic climate is continuing to deteriorate by the hour? I'll even haggle over the price of a Big Mac. Well dear bloggers, instead of sitting back and signing off another outrageous check, I decided to do something about it.

This eight year old boy will have a Thanksgiving that is worlds away from his past seven Thanksgiving holidays.

  • - Chair Yoga for the Wheelchair Bound. I’ve blogged on numerous occasions regarding the fact that she’s an amputee, a breast cancer survivor and now, a recent lung cancer patient in a wheelchair. My Mom has neck and back pain, leg pain, shoulder pain, even her pains have pain. While I was reciting my "Oms" during our class I thought about Yoga and how it would benefit my Mom. She could really use some serious stretching techniques that she can do sitting in a chair.

When making a decision concerning whom to do business with, ask yourself first if this particular person or company supports the same philanthropic charities that you support… or for that matter, if they support philanthropic charities at all.

  • - I know I’ve expressed my utter frustration and disappointment in our healthcare system before, but it’s starting to reach new heights. My Mother recently underwent pretty extensive surgery – and by extensive, I mean lasting two hours. The medical facility that performed the procedure ironically performed the exact same procedure four weeks ago. When it was performed four weeks ago, it lasted a mere 20 minutes.

As she was putting on the garment, a piece of metal "popped into my eye," Patterson said. "I was in excruciating pain."

  • - Phone Etiquette Take Three. I absolutely loathe it when people leave rushed phone messages where you can barely make out the area code to call back, much less the entire phone number.

  • - Paying it Forward- Kids and Charity...It warms my heart when I come across people who donate their time, money, and energy to serving charities they have a personal involvement or attachment to. Donating money and time to charities is so important and should be part of EVERY person’s life no matter how much you make or how busy your calendar is.

  • - Top 5 Best Ideas for Kid’s Birthday Parties. just had to throw each of my girl’s a birthday party. I refused to give in to society norms. I decided I was not going to rent space at a kids facility which caters to birthday parties (such as My Gym, Gymboree, LazerTag, Muvico movie theaters, the zoo, pottery making & painting boutiques). No, instead I thought to myself, “I have a beautiful backyard … let’s do “kid’s stuff” that will be a blast and won’t break the bank.

  • - Is it just me or have most people totally lost the ability to leave proper phone messages? In part, I blame the rise of email and text messaging but I think it’s largely due to the fact that everyone is always in such a rush these days. Whatever the reason both as a mom and http://www.catalogs.com business owner, this is one of my biggest PET PEEVES and sources of frustration throughout the day. I just don’t understand why this is so hard? So, in an effort to maintain my sanity, I found a great article with http://www.ehow.com/how_11174_leave-phone-message.html tips on how to leave proper phone messages…I still cannot believe that this is even necessary… Still, I have to rant a bit more so bare with me. Even business professionals can’t seem to figure it out. Is this a dying art form? The fact is, effective communication is crucial for business success, whether it be sales, follow-up, collaboration, media etc…Sometimes I just want to scream, “learn how to leave a PROPER phone message,” but of course I never do…that would be rude.
