Wax on, Wax off

car wax kits

Car care kits for the perfect car wax every time

I’m the first to admit it. When it comes to my car, I have the tendency to get a little geeky with it.  It has to be clean, it has to be shiny and don’t even think about eating an ice cream cone all up in here.

I’ve finally found a shop that embraces me for who I am in all of my car geeky glory. I have found a new friend and auto confidante in Autogeek, which is where I scored my new Wolfgang Deep Gloss Car Care Kit. It’s changed my life, and enhanced my relationship with my car.

We’ve never been closer.

I Wish you a Beary Christmas

holiday candy gift

Holiday candy gift set - Aplets & Cotlets candy combined with a cuddly holiday bear

In my house I’m known as the Queen of the Christmas stocking. There isn’t anyone in my family who still believes in Santa, but everyone has their own stocking nevertheless.

There they will hang by the chimney with care, in hopes that St. Trish soon will be there.

Yes, I always find the perfect little trinkets and goodies that will keep everyone guessing, stuffing those stockings ’til they’re packed to capacity with the spirit of St. Nick coarsing through my veins.

This year’s resident stuffed stocking staple is this soft and cuddly Holiday Candy Gift Bear from Aplets & Cotlets who is armed with a scrumptious box of the original Aplets & Cotlets fruit candy.

Oops. Did I just give it away?

Nutty as a fruitcake

texas fruitcake

Texas fruitcake – This scrumptious Texas Pecan Cake is not your average fruitcake

My co-workers think I’m nutty as a fruitcake. I bump into doors (I lack depth perception), I root for the Maryland Terrapins (Go Terps!) and apparently, I say the word “water” funny.

In my defense, I’m not all that nutty. On a scale of overall nuttiness, I probably fall between an Almond Joy and a Nutter Butter sandwich cookie, but I’m not nearly as nutty as the Award winning Texas Fruitcake baked fresh from Eilenberger’s Bakery.

I’ll admit, I may appear nuttier the longer you’ve known me.  It takes me a while to come out of my nut shell.

Just what the doctor ordered

personalized candies

Personalized candies hidden in personalized medicine bottles for aging patients

Today is my birthday.

My birthday had better make up for the agony I’ve endured this past month. I had to have a tooth pulled last week and unfortunately for me, my dentist doesn’t believe in pain medication. Thanks for nothing Doc.  I’ve been in agony for days, but nothing in my medicine cabinet seems to help.

Still in pain, I walk into my office this morning to find my desk decorated with a dazzling array of birthday treats from my co-workers. My eyes focus on a white pharmacy bag sitting on my keyboard. Say it isn’t so! My dear co-workers knew I didn’t have time for the pain, so they got me a prescription for pain relievers!

I love them.

I read the bag, anxious for sweet relief and realize, this isn’t Vicodin… it’s a prescription from the Fountain of Youth Pharmacy with a couple of vials filled with Personalized candies from Personalization Mall. The Name on the prescription? U. R. Ancient.

I hate them.

I loveth my James Sadler teapot

james sadler teapots

James Sadler teapots add Bard worthy charm to your Sadler teapot collection

Teapot, teapot, wherefore art thou teapot?

O! Where’st have I puteth my teapot filled with traditional English Earl Grey tea? I thinketh I doth have another teapot somewhere within my humble cottage by the sea, but would a spot of tea poured by any other teapot taste as sweet?

I thinketh not.

And…scene.

If you fancy all things English, you’ll fancy the English Tea Store’s collection of James Sadler teapots featuring the likeness of our beloved Bard, William Shakespeare.

This beer has your name on it

custom beer glass

Custom beer glass for custom beer drinking

I completely missed the beer boat this Father’s Day.

When looking for the perfect masculine gift, it never really occurred to me to gift dear old Dad with personalized barware. An ideal gift for any man who has had his brewski swiped from right under his nose, this Custom Beer Glass from Personal Creations not only looks cool (like some awesome beer experiment you wish you could have worked on in physics class), but it can be personalized with up to 9 characters and can hold up to 32 ounces of ice cold beer.

Now we’re talking beer business.

ET Phone Flask home

phone flask

Phone flask that makes you want to answer every phone call

I love my phone.  I love martinis.  Best of all, I love martinis in my phone.

This innovative Phone Flask from Gunther Gifts is better than any iPhone app I’ve downloaded in the past few months. It allows you to conveniently carry your spirits wherever you go, and if people on the street give you a dirty look for taking a mid-day swig, you can simply pretend you’re on the phone with your mother.

Rock em Sock em Robots

rock em sock em robots

Rock em Sock em Robots will rock your robot socks off

I’ve always had a fondness for games that allow me to beat other people up – Mortal Kombat, Virtual Fighter, Mike Tyson’s Punch Out… they always helped me feel triumphant and invincible, even though outside of the cyber fighting world I was completely powerless (my underdeveloped bicep is still recovering from being overthrown in an arm wrestling match against my brother two decades ago).

Aside from all of the lethal video games on the market, I always wanted a Rock em sock em Robots game for Christmas. Like little Ralphie Parker from A Christmas Story and his coveted Red Ryder BB gun, the object of my obsession was the original TKO classic that is now on sale at the Vermont Country Store. I still don’t know why I never got one. It’s not like I could’ve shot my eye out with it.

Oy vey

yiddish with dick and jane

Yiddish with Dick and Jane for Yiddish fun for everyone

My Yiddish isn’t great. Every time I go home to visit my mother she kvetches about it, which makes me feel like a total putz. So I’ve made a pledge to brush up on my Yiddish before my next trip home with a little help from Yiddish with Dick and Jane, an adorable little gift book from Challah Connection.

Jane is in real estate.
Today is Saturday.
Jane has an open house.
She must schlep the Open House signs to the car.
See Jane schlep.
Schlep, Jane. Schlep.
Schlep, schlep, schlep.

Live long and propser

spock action figure

Spock action figure for Spock loving trekkies

Hello Earthlings, don’t be alarmed. I come in peace.
I am the Spock Action Figure from Entertainment Earth. I am the son of Vulcan ambassador Sarek and human mother Amanda Grayson, at least according to Wikkipedia. I served on the USS Enterprise for eleven years under the command of Captain Christopher Pike and continue to serve aboard the ship as science officer and first officer. Until recently, I have served under James T. Kirk as my Captain, but he is on temporary leave while biding his time as a crochety lawyer on Boston Legal.

I have come on this journey to plug my new blockbuster Star Trek film (in theatres now), my collectible action figure, and of course, to beseech you all to live long and prosper.

Blooming Spring flowers in full bloom

blooming spring flowers

Blooming Spring flowers to spring on your Mom this Mother’s Day

Being a mom is often a thankless job.

As a Mom you get thrown up on, drooled on and snotted on, and that’s when your kids are in High School. We rarely remember to thank our Mothers for raising us, cooking us delicious nutritionally balanced meals, washing behind our ears and for teaching us right from wrong. When the second Sunday in May arrives, the least we can do to express our appreciation is to send our Mothers a rocking arrangement of flowers…ones that weren’t stolen from her treasured rosebush or the neighbor’s garden.

Celebrate her day this Mother’s Day with this It’s Your Day Blooming Spring flower arrangement from Beyond Blossoms and she’ll be beyond happy, she’ll be perennially happy.

Bowling for dollars at my desk

mini bowling game

This mini bowling set helps me strike up some good business

I’m very superstitious when it comes to new deals. Whenever I have a new client, I have a special routine that clues me in on whether a deal will head north or south, east or west. I don’t believe in rubbing rabbit’s feet, I don’t call 1-800-PSYCHIC and I don’t count on finding a penny and picking it up so all day long I’ll have good luck. My process is much simpler than all that.

I bowl.

One serve of a tiny little bowling ball tells me everything I need to know with this Mini Bowling Desk Set from Bowling Delights. If I land a gutterball, it ain’t happening. If I get a spare, it’s still a possibility, and if I get a strike…I’m headed to Tahiti. Read the rest of this entry »
