I’ll get you my pretty, and your heavy door too

decorative door stopper

Decorative door stopper to keep your doors wide open

Sometimes you have an open door policy, sometimes you’d rather keep things behind closed doors. When the annoying building alarm has mulfunctioned, door closed. When there’s juicy office gossip circulating in the room next door, my door is always open.

I love the musical Wicked, so I’m really loving this Wicked/Wizard of Oz inspired Decorative Door Stopper from Colorful Images. It does the trick every time, keeping my door securely ajar when I’m open for gossip, visitors and cute little black doggies. I only need to beware of the flying monkeys. Nigel hates those guys.

Fragrance ball of honey

fragrance ball

Fragrance balls filled with honey scented fragrance sachets

When I walk in the front door after a hard day at work, I would love to be greeted with the smells of clean linens, warm cookies in the oven and spicy, intoxicating fragrances. Since I live with a teenage son and a fiesty labrador retriever, I’m usually greeted with the scent of eau de wet dog or parfum de dirty sneakers.

I love lighting sweet smelling candles around the house, but leaving a flame unattended while I’m at work isn’t an option, (especially considering my quirky smoke detectors) which is why I am obsessed with this lovely Fragrance ball from Chesapeake Bay Candle.  It’s a fragrant life saver, making my home sweet home smell like a home sweet home, masking and overpowering any other disenchanting aromas.

Lay your head on Elvis’s shoulder

elvis pillow

Elvis pillow for Elvis Presley fans like me

There are two types of people in this world – Elvis fans and Elvis haters.

My co-worker Nigel is an Elvis hater, although Nigel hates almost everything… including watermelon and unicorns. I fall into the first category, a loyal fan of the King’s, ever since I marveled at his waist up performance on the Ed Sullivan show in 1956. Decades later, Elvis and I would share a special moment together in Hawaii when I accidentally plowed into a tall, dark and handsome man with a killer pair of mutton chops. True story.

I’ve been wanting to add a little bit of rock and roll into my home decor, so I’m all shook up over this Elvis Pillow from Image Design & Furniture Co. Now I can lay my head on Elvis’s shoulder and reminisce about our lovely Hawaiian getaway.

It’s all in the card cases

crystal business card holder

Crystal business card holder holds women’s business cards in style

We’re all getting new business cards this week, and I’m excited.  I love making new business contacts, almost as much as I love me a good peach martini (and the inevitable karaoke that soon follows). So in preparation of my brand spanking new executive business cards, I’m rewarding myself with this pretty women’s Crystal Business card holder from Add A Link of Charm that will express my love for both business, and pleasure.

Note to self, I’m angry

stationery notes

Stationery notes in note cubes that express your feelings

Sometimes it’s difficult for co-workers to read my moods.  Some consider me a man of few words and many grunts. It’s actually relatively easy to tell whether I’m happy as a clam or mad as a scientist, just check out what post-it notes I’m using from my Magic Cube of Stationery Notes from Current.

For example, here’s a post-it summation of this work week.

Monday – Happy. Took a personal day.
Tuesday – Grumpy.  3794 emails to sort through from taking personal day.
Wednesday – Hungry. Wish Jody would get me some McDonalds.
Thursday – Indifferent. So I get swine flu, big whoop.
Friday - Annoyed. People are stupid.

Need a little herb?

kitchen herb gardens

Kitchen herb gardens for fresh kitchen herbs at your fingertips

Sometimes a girl needs a little herb.

Like Kentucky Fried Chicken’s Colonel Sanders, I have my own dash of secret recipes that would put his mix of 11 special herbs and spices to shame.

A quarter cup of cilantro for my spicy enchiladas
An ounce of Oregano for my super secret special spaghetti sauce
A bunch of Basil for my sweet Thai Basil Chicken
A pinch of Parsley always adds the perfect garnish…
and a whole lotta Linda love sprinkled to taste.

What’s the big secret? I only use fresh herbs thanks to easy to grow Kitchen Herb Gardens from Instant Flower Garden. They’re totally herbriffic.

Lost in space

space bag large

Space bag large sized for extra large space saving

My Spring Cleaning saga continues…

I started on my daughter’s room last weekend, and am still not even close to being done. Winter is over and my daughter needs to make room in her closet for all of her new Spring fashion acquisitions. I was cleaning out her closet, wondering how she accumulated so many cute and comfy sweaters, then I realized most of them were mine. No wonder I was freezing all Winter. Thanks a lot dear.

Instead of taking up valuable closet or drawer space, I’m tripling our storage space with the Original Large Space Bag from Spacesavers! A Spacesaver #1 Bestseller, these state-of-the-art space bags are out of this world giving you up to three times more storage space for bulky sweaters, comforters, coats, sleeping bags, patio cushions and more by storing and compressing items quickly and conveniently. Plus, they eliminate bugs, moisture and dust while storing! No moths on Space Bag’s watch.

Blissful bedding

ashley duvet linens

Duvet linens and luxurious duvet linen sets make for blissful bedding

I never get up on the wrong side of the bed.

Bedtime is happy time for me. My bedroom is my ultimate sanctuary and I love nothing more than crawling under cover every night for my routine seven to eight hours of uninterrupted shut-eye (that is, when the fire alarms aren’t going off). I’m not always able to splurge on the finer things in life – overpriced jewelry, tiny yappy purse dogs or Maserati Gran Turismos, but when it comes to bedding, my budoir calls for the very best.

Every night when I rest my head on my Ashley Citron Duvet Linens and shams from Blissliving Home, visions of sugarplums dance in my head with all of the day’s trials and tribulations simply melting away.

Snuggie with me

snuggie

Snuggie ™ fleece throws for single snuggling situations

Sometimes you just need a snuggle.

Whether you’re sick, having a bad day or experiencing unfortunate digestive problems, snuggling makes it all better.  I am not embarrassed to admit that I am a self-professed Snugglepuss. I love cozying up on the couch Sunday mornings with a warm blanket, my man and a hot cup of extra bold coffee. The only problem with snuggling? You can’t always go it alone. Snuggling often requires a partner.

Well I’ve got news for all you loner snugglers, I just saw an infomercial for an amazing new snuggling sensation that will allow us all to snuggle solo! The Snuggie Fleece Throw from abc distributing isn’t just a snuggly blanket. It features sleeves that keep your upper body totally covered while your hands and arms are still free to move, so you can snuggle all by your lonesome until you’re as snug as a bug in a snuggie.

I’ve got nice jugs

clark gable royal doulton mug

Character jugs that really show some character

Frankly Scarlett, I don’t give a damn about the economy.

It’s been a bad fiscal year for me and all of my fellow Americans. I’ve lost an exorbitant amount of money in only a few short months, and I’m only a few transactions away from selling all of my clothes on Ebay and coming to work wearing a barrel. I’m through with 401K’s, IRA’s and all that other financial mumbo jumbo. From now on I’m only investing in priceless collectibles, like my nice jugs.

Not those kinds of jugs (although my other jugs are pretty captivating too, according to my boyfriend). I have an amazing collection of Royal Doulton Toby jugs, mugs, figurines and collectibles that are going to be worth millions one day.

Hopefully sooner than later.

I’m addicted to post-its

 origami post it notes

Funny sticky notes for funny post it note recycling

I have 453 yellow post it notes stuck on my desk.

I’m a busy guy with lots of ideas, and I need to keep track of them somewhere. Most of them are chores for Nigel, some are reminders to pick up eggs, and others are cutting edge ideas I’ve come up with to revolutionize the catalog industry.

We’ve been recycling here at Catalogs.com for awhile now and I’m excited to report that I’ve finally discovered a product that will help me recycle the millions of ideas that filter through my brain, ultimately ending up on post-it after post-it. These Funny Origami Sticky Notes from Delight.com allow me to keep my valuable ideas while creating beautiful origami shapes out of them. And they make great Hannukah gifts!
