Fabio Fabio, wherefore art thou Fabio?

Historical romance books get me all worked up with romance at work

I’m stuck working on the day after Christmas. Bah humbug. It’s dead here. Samara, Jody and I have just finished playing spin the bottle and don’t know what else to do for the next six to seven hours. There’s still a vat of egg nog at home with my name on it, and I haven’t had a chance to play with any of the toys and gadgets Santa left under my tree.

I have two choices.

1. I can either cry about it and pout…or

2. I can hit the books.

I’m going for option two and hitting the books. The books from Dorchester Publishing that is. I always keep a romance book tucked away in my desk drawer for such an occasion. For some, their weakness is black label Scotch. For me, it’s hot Roman dudes like the one on the cover of this Sword of Rome historical romance book. I have four words for you ladies…Va, va va voom.

Friends, Romans, Countrymen, lend me your ears…

Ever since Russell Crowe battled to the death in Gladiator, Romans have gotten me all hot and bothered. Maybe it’s the togas, maybe it’s those Gladiator sandals. Whatever it is, I’d love to be stuck in a Coliseum with my Sword of Rome protagonist, even if there were lions, tigers and bears circling us with their mouths watering.

DID YOU KNOW? The games played in the Colosseum are believed to have taken the lives of about 500,000 people, tied with the body count totaled in the Grand Theft Auto video game series.

Now I get to travel far, far away to the Shifting Sands of Egypt to join the adventures of Adhania and Marcellus – star-crossed lovers who can’t be together in Constance O’Banyon’s historical romance that transports me back to the days of Cleopatra, Caesar, and asps.

Not a bad way to spend the day after Christmas.

Is it 5 o’clock yet?
