I actually did hooked on phonics. My mother made me. It was actually not that bad, i think it actually helped me later in life.

Cool my kid loves trains and this might be a cool way to get him to learn something constructive

I Germany, we do have something like the Alphabet Train. It is pretty efffective. My Girls just doing the abc perfect.
