Off the cufflinks

funny cufflinks

Funny cufflinks for men who need more Facebook friends

Let me first preface this product review by pointing out that anyone who is savvy at social media knows that F ME is not an expletive. On the contrary, F Me is a very positive and endearing phrase that translates to Facebook Me and/or Follow Me, complimentary and sometimes desperate pleas to get someone to accept your friendship via Facebook.

With that said, please F Me. Seriously, so far I have 390 friends and I have set a personal goal to reach the 400 friend mark by Labor Day, so if you have an active Facebook account and promise not to litter my Wall with photos of kittens, F Me, F Me please.

Or perhaps I should snag a pair of these funny cufflinks inspired by Facebook from Cufflinks.com, then I can just F myself.

Frame Your Name

frame your name

Personalized name art - Frame Your Name with personalized art frames

What’s in a name?

As Shakespeare’s ill-fated heroine Juliet declared,

“That which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet.”

I doth agree Miss Capulet, but artwork personalized with that which we call your name is even sweeter.

Frame Your Name with Personalized Name Art from Frames by Mail for a gift that has their name written all over it.

A Gift Any Overbearing Mom Will Love

unique mom gift

Unique mom gift – Give your mom a beary unique gift this Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day is just around the corner and I’m wondering what gifts my kids have in store for me this year.

Last year my daughter surprised me with breakfast in bed.

That porridge was too hot.

That very same year my son gave me cash.

That $5 bill was too cold.

This year, I want them to surprise me with a gift that is just right

Something that lets me know what a beary special Mom I am, like this Unique Mom Gift from Bears in Chairs, Gifts You Design!

Now that would deserve a bear hug.

The Art of Dining In

beef short rib

Beef short rib meal – Gourmet beef short ribs for two

The closest I’ve ever come to preparing an impromtu meal is microwaving a Healthy Choice dinner I accidentally found in the freezer at work.

When it comes to cooking, I can’t just throw things together. I have to make a list, shop, check the nutritional content and prep, all of this before I even pre-heat the oven. As a busy working mom, who has the time?

It was a rainy Friday night when my husband and I decided to consume our recent gourmet indulgence, a succulent Beef Short Ribs Meal that we ordered from Impromptu Gourmet.

It made that stolen Healthy Choice dinner taste like chopped liver.

Wax on, Wax off

car wax kits

Car care kits for the perfect car wax every time

I’m the first to admit it. When it comes to my car, I have the tendency to get a little geeky with it.  It has to be clean, it has to be shiny and don’t even think about eating an ice cream cone all up in here.

I’ve finally found a shop that embraces me for who I am in all of my car geeky glory. I have found a new friend and auto confidante in Autogeek, which is where I scored my new Wolfgang Deep Gloss Car Care Kit. It’s changed my life, and enhanced my relationship with my car.

We’ve never been closer.

I Wish you a Beary Christmas

holiday candy gift

Holiday candy gift set - Aplets & Cotlets candy combined with a cuddly holiday bear

In my house I’m known as the Queen of the Christmas stocking. There isn’t anyone in my family who still believes in Santa, but everyone has their own stocking nevertheless.

There they will hang by the chimney with care, in hopes that St. Trish soon will be there.

Yes, I always find the perfect little trinkets and goodies that will keep everyone guessing, stuffing those stockings ’til they’re packed to capacity with the spirit of St. Nick coarsing through my veins.

This year’s resident stuffed stocking staple is this soft and cuddly Holiday Candy Gift Bear from Aplets & Cotlets who is armed with a scrumptious box of the original Aplets & Cotlets fruit candy.

Oops. Did I just give it away?

Nutty as a fruitcake

texas fruitcake

Texas fruitcake – This scrumptious Texas Pecan Cake is not your average fruitcake

My co-workers think I’m nutty as a fruitcake. I bump into doors (I lack depth perception), I root for the Maryland Terrapins (Go Terps!) and apparently, I say the word “water” funny.

In my defense, I’m not all that nutty. On a scale of overall nuttiness, I probably fall between an Almond Joy and a Nutter Butter sandwich cookie, but I’m not nearly as nutty as the Award winning Texas Fruitcake baked fresh from Eilenberger’s Bakery.

I’ll admit, I may appear nuttier the longer you’ve known me.  It takes me a while to come out of my nut shell.

When life gives you lemons, light a lemon scented candle

lemon scented candle

Lemon scented candles lightly scented with ginger, grapefruit and lemongrass

Some days, things just don’t go your way.

You realize your umbrella has a hole in it during a tropical storm.
You grab a doorknob at Disney World and get sick for a month.
The coffee maker splurts coffee grounds all over you.
You find out there’s 50lbs of honey in the walls of your house.

When life gives me lemons, I don’t make lemonade (too much sugar). Instead, I do two things.

1. I take a lemon-flavored Emergen-C packet for a burst of Vitamin C.
2. I light my Ginger and Grapefruit Scented Candles from Nice Aromas.

It works every time.

Just what the doctor ordered

personalized candies

Personalized candies hidden in personalized medicine bottles for aging patients

Today is my birthday.

My birthday had better make up for the agony I’ve endured this past month. I had to have a tooth pulled last week and unfortunately for me, my dentist doesn’t believe in pain medication. Thanks for nothing Doc.  I’ve been in agony for days, but nothing in my medicine cabinet seems to help.

Still in pain, I walk into my office this morning to find my desk decorated with a dazzling array of birthday treats from my co-workers. My eyes focus on a white pharmacy bag sitting on my keyboard. Say it isn’t so! My dear co-workers knew I didn’t have time for the pain, so they got me a prescription for pain relievers!

I love them.

I read the bag, anxious for sweet relief and realize, this isn’t Vicodin… it’s a prescription from the Fountain of Youth Pharmacy with a couple of vials filled with Personalized candies from Personalization Mall. The Name on the prescription? U. R. Ancient.

I hate them.

Mini brownie me

mini brownies

Mini brownies in tasty mini sampler sizes

They say good things come in small packages. This is true for some things, but not all…

When it comes to my daughter’s skirts, I prefer maxi over mini.

When it comes to evening heels…the bigger the heel, the sexier the shoe.

Diamonds… enough said.

When it comes to brownies, normally I say the bigger the better… unless you’re on a diet. In that case, mini works out just fine. Now I can have my brownie cakes and eat them too with this Half Dozen Sampler of Mini Brownies from The Exceptional Brownie. I love getting to sample three delicious flavors, and so does my waistline.

I loveth my James Sadler teapot

james sadler teapots

James Sadler teapots add Bard worthy charm to your Sadler teapot collection

Teapot, teapot, wherefore art thou teapot?

O! Where’st have I puteth my teapot filled with traditional English Earl Grey tea? I thinketh I doth have another teapot somewhere within my humble cottage by the sea, but would a spot of tea poured by any other teapot taste as sweet?

I thinketh not.

And…scene.

If you fancy all things English, you’ll fancy the English Tea Store’s collection of James Sadler teapots featuring the likeness of our beloved Bard, William Shakespeare.

Up to date

stuffed dates

Stuffed dates stuffed with tasty pecans and chocolate dipped dates

When it comes to dates, I say stuff it.

If you’re a fruit that’s healthy or good for me, I’m generally not that into you.  Apples I like, other fruits, not so much, and don’t even think of giving me a piece of melon. Although dates are considered healthy, they’re also considered sweet, plump, juicy and delicious, especially the Medjool varieties which are often jumbo sized which makes them perfect for stuffing.

Everything tastes better with a pecan or other tasty nut stuffed inside of it. Everything tastes even better when you smother it in rich, delicious chocolate. These Pecan Stuffed Dates and Chocolate Dipped Dates from Sphinx Date Ranch & Southwest Market are a match made in dating heaven.
