Does a specific candy make you crave for your childhood? Every time Halloween rolls around, do you find yourself yearning for some sweet nostalgia?
Take a trip down memory lane and check out what decades your favorite candies were brought into the world. Whatever decade you enjoy your candy from, it’s always a great time discovering new brands and flavors. Happy eating through our top ten decades in candy:
Did you know the original Altoids recipe is 200 years old? They use real peppermint oil, for that extra strength flavor.
Chocolate bars such as Zero, Milk Way and Reese’s Pieces made their way into the market this decade. Honey flavored candies such as Bit O’Honey were also entering the candy world.
Sugar Daddies, as well as Kit Kats and Mallo Cups were popular in the 1930s.
Wax Bottles and Wax Strips were a big hit in the 40s.
The 50s were overwhelmed with taffy, and everything from Turkish Taffy, Black Jack Taffy, and even Nougats were included!
The ever-popular Twizzler debuted in the 60s and is still going strong to this date, with flavors and new shapes.
Different flavored bubble gums made it to the market, such as Big Red. Gum companies, even though invented decades ago, rolled out new and exciting flavors.
More common candies such as Airheads, Bubble Tape and Nerds were all the rage in the 80s. Mini Chiclets were also a candy trend and Sour Patch Kids made both young and old feel 5 again!
Chocolate companies ruled the market, developing new bars ever year of this decade. Kit Kat was now huge in Asia, presenting the crowds with flavors such as Soy, Pumpkin and even Green Tea! Artisinal Fudge shops pop up everywhere!

The latest candy trends are not all about the sweets. Salt and savory ingredients are being added to candy, to appeal to a different, more adult geographic. You’ll also find more innovative candies, with bugs and batteries included!
