Faith is a powerful concept that refers to the beliefs we have in someone or something.
More specifically, faith may be described as having complete trust in someone or thing; additionally faith typically refers to a strong belief in God, religion or other spiritual system or being. Regardless of who or what you believe in, having faith in something can raise you up to a higher level, increase your spirit and confidence and help you strive to be a better person.
Consider the following top ten expressions of faith the next time you are feeling sad, doubtful or lost in life.
The acclaimed Christmas movie “Miracle on 34th Street” used the expression that “Faith is believing in something when common sense tells you not to.” Believing in miracles is a way to show the world…and yourself…that you are a person of strong faith.
9. Martin Luther King Jr.
Among King’s remarkable words and speeches included many expressions of faith such as “Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase.” Dr. King expressed what many considered to be an unreasonable faith that skin color wouldn’t be an issue in the future. Thanks to his faith, and that of others who shared it, much of what he once imaged has come true.
8. Not what you see
The faithful expression “Just because you can’t see it doesn’t mean it isn’t there” gives hope and faith to people facing what appears to be an insurmountable obsticle or a situation with no possible solution. It’s a wonderful reminder that sometimes there is a way out of (or around) a crisis that might not yet be visable.
Some people carry an amulet or wear a religious symbol as jewelry to remind them to “keep the faith” when things look hopeless.
Voltaire famously quoted that “Faith is believing when it is beyond the power of reason to believe.”
6. George Michael
He may not have been the first to coin the phrase, but musician and artist George Michael made the words “Cause I gotta have faith” famously addictive in his smash hit song, Faith. People are often moved by similar short expressions, which are appropriate for inspirational message jewelry that can give strength and comfort whenever it is worn.
5. J.R.R Tolkien
Tolkien, author of the infamous trilogy Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, once quoted “Faithless is he that says farewell when the road darkens.”
If you have a dear friend who has shown their faith in you through times of darkness, you might want to say thank you with a gift of light. Consider fragrant candles in their favorite scent, or maybe a high-tech flashlight to remind them how much you appreciate their faithfulness during dark days.
Among the many expressions of faith can be found one noted by William Shakespeare who surmised that “He wears his faith but as the fashion of his hat.” Clearly Shakespeare was not fond of people who were too willing to talk about their religion, rather than just live their deepest beliefs!

W.H Auden exclaimed that “To choose what is difficult all one’s day, as if it were easy, that is faith.”
“Faith is reason grown courageous” originated from Sherwood Eddy and counts among the many expressions of faith. Many a frightened person has found strength in this message.
