The bedroom is generally referred to as the room for relaxation, peace and quiet.
Although beds conjure up images of sleeping, there are plenty of other activities to do that are fun in bed for people of all ages. Check out the following top ten list of fun things to do in bed the next time you find yourself bored and restless.
No bedroom activities list would be complete without mentioning an obvious fun-maker for consenting adults: romantic relations. Keep it intimate, yet tame, by simply snuggling or prepare for a night of passion with your significant other by adding fantasies or role-playing into the mix.
Although reading is a quiet past-time, it is fun in bed since it’s a great way to help you relax and get wrapped up in another imaginary, or real, world. Don’t want to hold a bulky book in bed, or deal with turning off the lights when you’re ready to drift off to sleep? Pull up your favorite book on a lightweight tablet reader and relax. When you’re sleepy, just turn off the screen and head off into dreamland.
Who wouldn’t want breakfast in bed? Consider treating yourself once in a while by taking a warm bowl of oatmeal or a stack of homemade pancakes back to bed with you for a luxurious start to your day. Or even better, get your significant other to join you for a cozy breakfast for two. Now that’s a great way to spend some time in bed on a weekend morning!
7. Watching movies
Watching TV too close to bed-time can keep you up at night. However, if it’s the weekend and you’re in your jammies, why not turn on a romantic comedy or feel-good classic for a fun in bed activity. Or let the kids pile in and put a Disney movie on for an impromptu slumber party. Just skip the snacks with crumbs…you’ll have a tough time sleeping in a crunchy bed!
Gather your family and little ones together for a story-telling session. Telling stories in bed is a great way to develop family relationships and help kids enjoy bed-time. Grab a pile of their favorite picture books or story books, settle in and let their imaginations run wild as you read.
Writing can be fun in bed, especially if you are left alone with your thoughts and free to write whatever you want. Keep a personal journal and make keeping it part of your night-time ritual.
Move your mental muscles by working on series of crossword or fill-in puzzles. Collect your faves from the newspaper to save for bedtime, or buy a book filled with the kinds of puzzles you love to do. Time will fly as you remain focused on completing the puzzle in record time!
Ask your partner to give you a back, neck or full-body massage with soothing scented oils and professional quality hand-held massage tools in bed for de-stressing and bonding with your partner!
Exercise can be done from the warmth and privacy of your own bedroom by performing a few sets of leg lifts, gluteal squeezes and crunches. The fun part will be the results of your rocking bod!
Settle in bed for a relaxing, intimate or engaging conversation with your significant other. Alternatively, call up a friend or family member on the phone while snuggling between some luxurious sheets for a relaxing, friendly chat.
