Model airplanes can be more fun that the real thing
Big RC airplanes for big model airplane pilots
I don’t have many hobbies. I used to love going out for a nice bike ride every now and then, but I’m hesitant to ride around in my own neighborhood. I’ve seen one too many biking related accidents. Last weekend I was about to wheel my baby out to enjoy some fresh Spring air and ended up climbing a tree to witness the aftermath of yet another bike-bashing calamity. It’s time to find a new hobby.
I’m not into golfing, checkers, chess or gardening, so I thought I’d visit Hobby Lobby International – the home for family fun oriented RC products. I figured if anyone could find me a hobby, they could. Hobby Lobby International has it all – RC airplanes, helicopters, sailplanes, boats, cars and other ready to fly models. Browsing their site made me feel like I was a kid again, but I wasn’t settling on any old kiddie plane. I set my sights on one big RC airplane that wasn’t up for any child’s play.
This Gee Bee Senior Sporster has more than a 7-foot wingspan and is truly a golden age racer. I had it assembled in a jiffy and couldn’t wait to take her out for her maiden voyage. Just as I’d hoped, she was a dream to fly with easy take-offs and landings.
I’d never operated an RC airplane before, but it was as easy as flying a kite or riding a bike - minus the carnage.
Features:
- 84-1/2" wingspan, 62-1/2" long, 1207 sq. in. wing area
- 15-3/4 pound flying weight
- ARF model: Almost-Ready-To-Fly
- Over 7 foot wingspan
- Controls: Ailerons, Elevator, Rudder, Throttle
- Price: $429.90
DID YOU KNOW? 450 snakes were used in the filming of the Samuel L. Jackson film “Snakes on a Plane”, 452 if you count Jackson’s python biceps.
