The first thing you need to do is shampoo your hair. Use a delousing shampoo made specifically for killing lice eggs and the lice themselves. You can purchase this shampoo at your local drug store. Put the shampoo in your hair and let it sit for 10 minutes. Then rinse.

 Vinegar

Once you have rinsed the delousing shampoo from your hair, rinse your head again with white kitchen vinegar. Use a mixture of half water and half vinegar. The vinegar is used to dissolve the dead lice eggs that were killed by the delousing shampoo. Rinse the vinegar out several times to remove its powerful scent.

Olive Oil

Use the delousing shampoo again a week later to kill off any lice or lice eggs that you missed the first time. If you’re still having problems with lice after that, mix together a concoction of half vinegar and half olive oil. Put this in your hair and let it sit for an hour before rinsing. After you’ve rinsed out the vinegar and olive oil, clean your hair with your normal shampoo to return your hair to its prime state.

Smother Lice While You Sleep

If you have a problem with the delousing shampoo and the vinegar in your hair, another method is to smother the lice in your hair while you’re sleeping. You can do this by applying a coat of mayonnaise to your hair and covering your head with a shower cap.

When you apply the mayonnaise to your hair, be sure to completely saturate your follicles and your scalp. If you let this sit overnight on your head, it should effectively kill the lice. The mayonnaise won’t smother the lice eggs, though, so you’ll have to pick those out of your hair.

Pick Out Your Lice

Another way to get the lice and the lice eggs out of your hair is to pick them out with a lice comb. You can purchase a lice comb at your local drug store. Have a spouse or friend use the lice comb on your hair. That person should run the comb carefully through all of your hair to remove all the lice they can find.

They need to be careful to also pick out anything that looks like seeds. These are the lice eggs. Throw away all lice and lice eggs or put them in a bowl of water to kill them. You may have to use this technique several times for several consecutive days to make sure you get all the lice and lice eggs out of your hair. If you’re picking lice out by hand, there’s a good chance you’ll miss some of them the first time.
