Notepads

One of the ways to keep the family on schedule is incredibly simple, and can be changed and used in huge variety of ways. A simple notepad can be used to jot down when someone has an event they need to get to and when and where. The problem becomes leaving the notepad where everyone in the family can actually find it.

One way to solve the problem of making sure that the notepad is actually in the right place all the time is by using a magnetic notepad that you can stick on the front of your refrigerator.  The kitchen is the nexus of a family, because at some point, everyone in that family is going to spend some time in that room. If they are also jotting down their schedule and taking note of other members of the family’s needs and events.

Laminates

Paper notepads that have some sort of way to attach them to something and hold them in place is one way to make sure your family is all on one schedule. Another approach is the same basic idea but the format is a laminated board that will allow people to write notes about their schedule and then erase those notes when they are no longer needed.

Laminated memo boards or laminated schedules or dry erase boards will allow people to save money on paper and actually make it easier to edit a schedule because you can simply erase and write the changes rather than having messy cross outs and other doodles on a page.

Using paper you can even run into a situation where you have to write everything over. Laminates helps you avoid that hassle.

Google Calendar

This particular choice relies on quite a bit on the people in your family being technologically savvy, but if they are then this is probably the best way to go. You can allow anyone to view one particular calendar as well as update those whenever they need to. You can even make the program alert someone that a particular event or meeting is about to begin or has been scheduled.

The best part about this solution is that you don’t need to come home to look at a central board or slip of paper to be reminded of your family’s schedule. Google calendar works on all kinds of mobile devices, as well as a regular desktop. That means that you can check the schedule from wherever you are, making it that much harder to miss a particular scheduled event.
