This breed (which isn’t really a breed, according to the AKC) has developed a bad reputation over the years, but interestingly enough, if you train your pit bull with a strong hand and show him who is boss, you will have a caring, family dog by your side. Forget about the negative associations with this breed and train your dog to understand your commands and he will do as he’s told.

They are considered great family dogs, if you forget about the immensity in size. They are amazing guard dogs and will most likely not bark but intimidate any stranger they perceive to be a threat. You will not need to teach the Mastiff to guard, as it is their natural instinct to protect their own pack.
