What is gravity?

What is gravity and how does it affect your body and appearance

Most women of a ‘certain age’ can tell you precisely what gravity is and what happens when it takes its toll.

Sir Isaac Newton realized that gravity played a roll in controlling the moon’s obit when an apple fell onto his head. That is inspired Newton’s Law of Gravity. However, he probably didn’t understand the huge effect that gravity has on the human body.

As we age, we become victims of gravity. We lose some of our height and may suffer from an aching back, varicose veins, leg health issues and swollen feet due to the effects of gravity, which is a compressive force.

Before you continue reading about the What is gravity? there is a special announcement we would like to share with you. Catalogs.com has negotiated special medicare rates for our vibrant community of seniors. Gravity is constantly pulling downward on your face, your back, shoulders, chest, legs, feet and even on the body organs. One way to fight back against the tug of gravity it to exercise. However, even those who religiously work out may experience compression fatigue, which means the more you exercise the more your body is going to pay the toll caused by gravity. It sounds like there is no true way to overcome the effects of gravity but you can still try.

You will notice the impact of gravity the most in the spine. The discs in the spine lose moisture every day and eventually this causes you to lose up to 1/2 inch to 2 inches in height over a lifetime. When this happens, the organs in your body become compressed. Your waist size will increase even if you haven’t gained weight. Love handles are actually “compression wrinkles,” because they are the direct result of compression of the spine, caused by gravity.

Internal organs begin to collapse because of the force of gravity. When organs collapse they don’t function optimally.

Those who diligently grab their yoga mat and practice yoga do so in part because they know that it counteracts the effects of gravity. When standing on one’s head and engaging in other postures where the head is lower than the rest of the body this ensues that your organs remain where they should be. This is called inversion.

Gravity has an impacts of your flexibility and circulation because it does not allow water to flow upward and it makes it difficult for body to flow upward easily. Your limbs can become swollen as a result, varicose veins can develop and you may experience circulatory problems in your skin,  ears, eyes, scalp and brain. These problems result in deterioration of these vital organs.

Gravity is what keeps us from floating off into space. It is also the reasons that objects drop to the ground. In other words, what goes up must come down.

We can’t see gravity because it is an invisible force of nature. Gravity attracts objects to each other and is responsible for the formation of the bodies in the universe, including the plants. Gravity is what makes the Earth rotate around the sun and the moon rotate around the Earth.

When you get on the scale and weigh yourself, your weight is the result of the force of gravity and your mass.

Sir Isaac Newton concluded that an object at rest will continue to be at rest and an object that is moving will continue to move unless a non-zero force is applied. The formula for hits is: F = ma. “F” is force. “M” is for mass. “A” is for acceleration. Every force has an equal but opposite force in the same time. Acceleration, which is gravity, depends on the mass of the earth and the distance the other mass is from the center of the earth.

Einstein’s theory is that the presence of matter warps space-time. Objects that are in free fall in the universe take geodesics, which are the corresponding items of a straight line in Euclidean geometry, in space-time. Consequently, gravity is affected by two components including curvature of space and time dilation. Curvature of space is the reason why the planet Mercury is the closest planet to the sun and moves faster than the other planets and, additionally, why Mercury is more curved than the other planets.
