Learn what is lack of self confidence and what part it plays in personality

Self confident people are those who can walk into a room of strangers ready to meet people with a smile. Not surprisingly, they will likely be more successful and happy than the wall flowers in the room. When you feel unstoppable, people will perceive as such. When you don’t, they won’t.

The answer to what is lack of self confidence is simple. It means you don’t believe in yourself enough; not only do you feel stoppable, but also scared. You’d rather not walk into a room full of strangers at all, even if those strangers could become employers, clients or friends.

As children we are taught to love ourselves for who we are, but low self confidence prevents you from really being yourself and in many cases enjoying life to its fullest. If you’re nervous in professional settings, no one is going to hire you or want to work with you. Learning how to access your higher self will help you speak clearly in public and hold people’s attention. This will give you a strong edge over someone who can’t.

How much do you believe in yourself?

Think about how you respond to certain situations. Do you worry too much about what other people think? When you have an opinion that your colleagues disagree with, or an idea they laugh at, do you stand by it or back down?

We all have to take some risks in life or we never get anywhere. Does fear of failure hold you back, or do you take risks to go after certain goals?

Tips for Self Improvement

Countless things in life can affect how you feel about yourself, and many of these things are out of your control. The good news is that there are many ways to build confidence.

First, let’s look at what is lack of self confidence. According to Mind Tools, it’s two primary qualities, self-efficacy and self-esteem, that form your confidence level. Efficacy is basically the belief that if you work hard at something, you’ll be successful. This is what fuels perseverance. Esteem is the general sense that you deserve happiness and you’re good at what you do.

Dress well

Nice clothes make you feel put together, and that’s enough to take your thoughts off yourself and onto the task at hand. Wearing wrinkled clothes that don’t quite fit alters how you carry yourself, makes you stand with a slouch. A sloppy look also makes you too self-conscious to draw attention to yourself so you’re less likely to speak up because it means drawing attention to yourself.

No need to fill your closet with outfits you can’t afford. Instead purchase a few quality pieces, like a great jacket or trousers that fit perfectly.

Stand Straight

Posture reveals a lot about a person for better or worse so sit up straight! Roll your shoulders back, make eye contact and move with purpose. How you walk and sit will convey either enthusiasm or lethargy so practice before an important meeting or interview. If you’re feeling low energy or last minute nerves, take the advice often given to sales people and “Fake it till you make it!”

Self-Improvement Books and Recordings

A good motivational speaker can make you feel ready to take on the world.  Read books and listen to the recordings of people like Tony Robbins, Dr. Deepak Chopra and Zig Ziglar.

Share the Love

Learning to appreciate yourself goes hand-in-hand with appreciating others. Be generous in complimenting people and refrain from talking negatively about others. While you’re at it, set aside daily quiet time to think about what your grateful for, and what you achieved that day.

Improve Your Fitness

Exercise regularly and you’ll naturally be more energized and positive. This is also an opportunity to step outside of your physical comfort zone. Take yoga or spinning classes, hop on a bike and go for a long ride and begin strength training. In a few weeks, you’ll feel physically fantastic, disciplined and inspired to continue challenging yourself.

Learning what is lack of self confidence will help you identify areas for self improvement. How you see yourself informs how the world sees you and treats you. Improving this view takes time and energy. You’re worth it.
