Learn how to hang a heavy wall mirrors that will reflect style and personality

Hanging a mirror on your wall is beneficial in more ways than one. Sure, having it is useful when you want to check out your appearance, but it is also helpful aesthetically.

Mirrors can make a small room look large. They also reflect light, which can help a dark room appear more open and lighter. However, hanging a mirror is often tricky, especially if itís heavy. And if youíre wondering how to hang a mirror, youíre in luck. With the help of a few tools, you can do it with no problem.

So youíve got a gorgeous mirror you want to showcase. Unfortunately, itís not as easy to hang as a typical picture is, particularly when it has got some weight to it. Youíll need to use the proper hardware and hang it in an appropriate spot. Hanging the mirror at eye level is ideal, as youíll be able to look straight into it without any problem.

The first step in hanging a heavy mirror is finding a stud in the wall. Hold a stud finder in the area you wish to hang the mirror. The finder will make a beeping sound when it detects a stud.  Now mark a spot on the wall that is eye level. This spot is where the center of your mirror should be.

If your mirror is framed, it will need to have strong screw eyes on either corner, as well as picture wire going from one screw eye to the other.

Since the mirror needs to be hung from the two screw eyes, youíll need to make marks on the wall where these spots will sit against. The easiest way to do this is to measure the distance from the center of the mirror to the eyes, then use that information to make two marks on your wall where the screws will sit inside.

Use an electric drill to create a hole on each mark that is a little smaller than the screws you intend to use. Use a screwdriver to insert the screw into the wall; however, allow the screw head to remain out of the wall about ľ of an inch. Hang the mirror on the screws and take a step back to admire your work.

If your mirror is without a frame, youíll need to use mirror clips. Create the marks on the wall in the same process as before and insert a long wood screw inside the holes, then attach the mirror clips to the screws. However, wait to fully tighten the clips until you place the mirror on the clips.

Now that you know how to hang a mirror, you can decorate your home and make if feel totally comfortable and look stylish.
