These days, it’s easy to get your 15 minutes of fame- or at least 3-5 minutes. All you need is a camcorder, web cam, or cell phone with the ability to record videos.
But what should your videos be about? How do you capture the interest of YouTube viewers around the world? There are hundreds of ways to put yourself on YouTube. You’ll find the best below.
Here are the top ten ways to put yourself on YouTube:
10. Showcase your musical talent
Do all of your friends say you should have been on American Idol? Can you play the French horn like nobody’s business? It’s time to show the world just how awesome you are. Maybe you’ll even get a record deal.
9. Showcase your LACK of musical talent
Not everybody can be the next Beyonce or John Lennon. Record yourself singing your favorite song loudly and off-key. Bonus points for embarrassingly pathetic dance moves.
8. Share you knowledge
You might assume everybody knows how to apply lip gloss or fold laundry. They don’t. This is where you come in and save the day.
7. Do something stupid
Jump off of your roof, walk into a tree, or dive into an inflatable pool with an inch of water. On second thought, don’t do any of those things. You can be a YouTube star without injuring yourself.
Your rant can be about anything- the president, oil prices, your neighbor, the color pink…you get the idea. Complaining is frowned upon in most places, but the internet is not one of them.
What’s your favorite person, place, or thing in the whole wide world? Don’t keep YouTube viewers in suspense.
4. Flaunt your children
Your kids probably do some pretty funny or adorable things. Don’t let them steal the show, though. Every single time they do something cute, loudly announce your name and remind your viewers that they inherited their cuteness, brains or beauty from you.
3. Start a war of words
Got beef with somebody? Tell them off via YouTube. Just be prepared for the rebuttal.
2. Create a one man (or woman) comedy show
Your mom thinks you’re funny, and she’s not just talking about your appearance. Bust out your best one-liners and leave cyberspace in stitches.
1. Do absolutely nothing
Seriously. Just sit there and stare at the camera for 5 minutes. People will keep watching, thinking that you’ll eventually do something funny. The joke is on them.
