The long-running television series The Bachelor has been a prime-time hit since its debut in 2002.
The reality series is essentially a dating game in which 25 single ladies all vie for the attention, and dates, with a single, handsome and typically rich man. Each week the bachelor narrows down the dating field by handing out a single rose to the ladies he fancies until he finds “the one” to whom he proposes in the final episode.
Check out the following top ten The Bachelor couples from the list below to determine who had the most love sparks.
10. Jason and Molly
Although Jason Mesnick proposed to Melissa Rycroft during the final episode of his season, he apparently had a change of heart. Mesnick dumped Rycroft on television in a follow-up show only to ask for runner-up Molly Malaney’s hand immediately afterwards.
9. Charlie and Sarah
Charlie O’Connell was one half of the bachelor couples who stayed with his final choice, Sarah Brice, for more than a few months. Alas, after an on-off relationship, the two finally called it quits in 2010.
8. Byron and Mary
The bachelor couple Byron Velvick and Mary Delgado made headlines for more than love when she was arrested for battery after punching Velvick in the face. The couple stayed together despite that, but finally parted ways in 2009.
7. Andrew and Jen
Andrew Firestone, the heir to the famous tire company, proposed to sweetheart Jen Schefft during his season. The couple eventually split up and both went on to get married and have kids with other people.
6. Jake and Vienna
Jake Pavelka and Vienna Girardi caused a mass media frenzy after their supposed love romance went sour shortly after the season ended. The bachelor couple ended up in a nasty battle of words hurling insults and tears at each other in a follow-up reunion episode.
5. Brad and Emily
Sadly, this romance fizzled pretty quickly amidst a series of rumors and magazine spreads claiming the two had broken up. Emily Maynard eventually cleared the air by admitting they had broken up in part because of Brad Womack’s short temper and her unwillingness to relocate.
4. Bob and Estella
Rejected by the original Bachelorette Trista Rehn, Bob Guiney had another chance at love during his own bachelor series. Although he selected Estella Gardiner, he did not propose which may have been an obvious hint of their break-up later down the road.
3. Jesse and Jessica
Jessie Palmer, former Giants quarterback, is arguably one of the more famous Bachelor’s to have starred on the show. Sadly, he also chose not to propose to Jessica Bowlin in the final episode instead opting for a couple’s vacation trip together.
2. Prince Lorenzo and Jennifer
The Bachelor tried to re-ignite ratings by showcasing Prince Lorenzo Borghese during a season that started in Europe. Unfortunately, he was not Jennifer Wilson’s Prince Charming and the two later split up.
1. Matt and Shayne
English business-man Matt Grant wooed the daughter of famous director Lorenzo Lamas, Shayne, during his reality. Although the couple seemed to have potential, Grant eventually wanted out and the couple parted ways.
