Here’s a list of the hottest country songs of 2007.
2007 was a great year for country music. I have compiled my own list of the top 20 country songs of 2007 using a very scientific method consisting of: checking the Billboard lists for songs that spent multiple weeks in the top 20, reading other people’s lists of favorite songs, and narrowing it down by picking enjoyable songs that I seemed to hear over and over again on the radio.
My Top 20 Country Songs of 2007
- My Wish, performed by Rascal Flatts, written by Jeffrey Steele.
While the song doesn’t exactly identify the object of the singer’s wishes, this song brings to mind the things I wish for my children.
- Ticks, performed by Brad Paisley, written by Brad Paisley, Kelly Lovelace, and Brad Warren.
This has got to be one of the strangest pick-up lines in all of history, but it makes for a catchy song.
- Anyway, performed by Martina McBride, written by Martina McBride, Brett Warren, and Brad Warren.
One storm can come and blow it all away.
Build it anyway?”
I’m sure I’m not the only person who thought of all the victims of Hurricane Katrina while listening to this song.
- Amarillo Sky, performed by Jason Aldean, written by John Rich, Big Kenny, Rodney Clawson, Bart Pursley.
And pulls the plow across the ground
And sends up another prayer?”
In this song, Jason Aldean brings to light the plight of the family farmer in the United States. The video is especially poignant, with quotes from young second, third, and fourth-generation farmers.
- Want To, performed by Sugarland, written by Bobby Pinson, Jennifer Nettles, and Kristian Bush.
Just one kiss could stop it spinnin’
We could think it through
But I don’t want to if you don’t want to?”
“Want To” is a perfect song illustrating the moments that define a relationship.
- Because of You, performed by Reba McEntire and Kelly Clarkson, written by Ben Moody, Kelly Clarkson, and David Hodges.
The video of this duet between Kelly Clarkson and Reba McEntire demonstrates how an abusive relationship can trap someone and destroy their confidence in themselves and their ability to trust anyone to help.
- Our Song, performed by Taylor Swift, written by Taylor Swift.
Sneakin’ out late, tappin’ on your window?”
Taylor Swift’s debut album is full of songs that celebrate the joys and heartbreaks of young love. She’s an amazing talent, both with her vocals and her songwriting ability.
- Ready, Set, Don’t Go, performed by Billy Ray Cyrus and Miley Cyrus, written by Casey Beathard and Billy Ray Cyrus.
Well, baby, get ready, get set, don’t go?”
Anyone who has a daughter can appreciate this ode to watching your little girl grow up and follow her dreams. Billy Ray and Miley performed the duet version on Dancing With the Stars.
- Stay, performed by Sugarland, written by Jennifer Nettles.
There’s one thing you should know
We don’t have to live this way
Baby, why don’t you stay?”
This is the song sung by the other woman in a relationship, asking her lover to stay and not return to his wife.
- Letter to Me, performed by Brad Paisley, written by Brad Paisley.
You’ll make new friends
You should see your kids and wife
And I’d end by saying have no fear
These are nowhere near the best years of your life…”
What would you say to yourself at age 17? This song is Brad Paisley’s answer to that question.
