10. Wii Fit
One of the best-selling games of all time, the Wii Fit puts players on the Wii Balance board and gives workouts using strength training, aerobics, yoga and balance games. After doing the twists, steps, poses and games, it keeps track of the fitness progress made by everyone in the family. Fun and fitness without having to go to the gym!
9. Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
Metroid Prime 3: Corruption brings bounty hunter Samus Aran to the Wii where she fights the Space Pirates and searches for her fellow bounty hunters who disappear following an attack by Dark Samus and the Phazon mutagenic material. The Wii Remote and Nunchuk have Samus jumping, shooting and locking on to enemies while traveling from planet to planet.
8. Okami
Okami follows the sun god Amaterasu as he fights evil on earth in the form of an okami – the Japanes word for wolf. This beautiful game combines Japanese folklore and Japanese art in an exciting and complex adventure. The Wii remote is used to attack monsters and to control Amaterasu’s Celestial Brush which paints powers for demolishing enemies and solving puzzles.
7. Mario Party 8
Everyone’s favorite party game is even crazier on the Wii. Mario Party 8 has new mini-games, new party boards and new ways to play using motion control, the pointer and the remote buttons. Bowling, racing, stacking, shooting and other short games make it the perfect birthday party or babysitting game.
6. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
The best-selling shooter game is even better on the Wii. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare moves out of World War II into a present-day Russian civil war. The Wii remote gives you rocket-propelled grenades and other powerful weapons to fight in real world locations, including in Ukraine near the abandoned Chernobyl nuclear plant. With the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, you get online multiplayer capability.
5. Resident Evil 4
Killing zombies is more fun with the Wii remote and Resident Evil 4. As Leon S. Kennedy, players try to rescue the daughter of the US president during the zombie apocalypse. You use the the nunchuck to run around and the Wii remote as your gun. Resident Evil 4 is more gory than scary but always a lot of fun and good practice for the zombie takeover.
4. Donkey Kong Country Returns
Developed for the Wii, Donkey Kong Country Returns brings back all the fun from the original game like the barrel cannons and mine carts while adding the ability for two players to compete as Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong. Great graphics bring the jungles, beaches and temples to life as the puzzles and challenges drive you and Donkey Kong bananas.
3. World of Goo
If you hated or feared physics in school, World of Goo will make you love it – at least the physics of goo. This fun game has players linking blobs of living, talking goo to build bridges, towers, zeppelins and other structures in the World of Goo. You meet the creatures they live with, find new species and ultimately get attached to them as you try to save them from the pits that eat goo blobs.
2. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
Based on a hugely popular Nintendo game, the Wii remote gives The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess precise weapon controls for Link to search for Zelda in dungeons, forests and the Twilight Realm. It’s darker than its predecessors with fabulous graphics to follow Link as he transforms into animals, solves puzzles and battles monsters with the help of the mystifying Minda.
1. Super Mario Galaxy 2
Popular Savings Offers
The sequel to the popular Super Mario Galaxy has Mario traveling from galaxy to galaxy collecting stars while his pal Yoshi eats foods that cause strange reactions. There’s a steerable planet for Mario to ride and a drill for tunneling through planets. New enemies and challenges combined with the fun and speed of the original make Super Mario Galaxy 2 my pick for the best Wii game.
