Said to be extensively tested in the wind tunnel, this car gives a six thousand eight hundred and seventy five rpm (6875 rpm) and a 960 lb-ft of torque at 6150 rpm. Although it has clocked a speed as high as 221 mph, the Aero’s top speed is estimated to be even higher at 273 mph.

2-The Dauer 962 Le Mans 

Right up there in the category of the world?s fastest street cars is this little road version of the Porsche 962, which had won the 1994 24 Hours of Le Mans. This car debuted at the 1993 Frankfurt Auto Show. Prepared by Jochen Dauer, the road version has an estimated speed of about 250 mph. It is said to accelerate from 0 to 60 in a little over two seconds. Dauer Racing (now Dauer Sportwagen) produces the 962 Le Mans from actual Porsche 962 chassis, which are stripped down for modification.

3- The Ultima GTR

This comes in two versions; one with the 640bhp engine, termed the Ultima GTR640 and the other with the 720bhp engine, which is known as the Ultima GTR720. Ultima Sports Ltd of Hinckley, Leicestershire, England, manufactures this supercar, and it is available both in kit form and as a ?turnkey? (assembled by the factory) vehicle. The design involves a rear wheel drive layout with a tubular steel space frame chassis and GRP bodywork. Known for taking the fastest 0-60 mph of 2.6 seconds, the 0-100 mph requires 5.3 seconds.

4-The Caparo T1

Certainly holding its own in the category of the world?s fastest street cars is this super vehicle that boasts of an almost seven hundred horse power. The 0-60 time-span is said to take under 2.5 seconds. This British mid-engine, rear-wheel drive, two-seat automobile was inspired by Formula One design and intended as a relatively affordable street racing car. Approximately 25 cars per year have been built per year since 2007 and the going price per vehicle $480,000.

5-The Saleen S7

Capable of speeds over 200 miles per hour, the Saleen S7 is designed to compete with the fastest, best handling and most luxurious grand touring cars in the world. Zero-to-60 mph time is under three seconds. The Saleen S7 has campaigned and won many races around the world, with its GT-1 history in the American Le Mans Series and the FIA GT Championship being a whopping 40 wins.

6- The Ascari A10

Produced by the British company, Ascari Cars, with the name A10 intended to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the company, a Dutch millionaire is responsible for its unique design. This super car produces 625 bhp and is capable of a top speed of about 215 mph. Like its KZ1 predecessor, the 1280kg A10 is somewhat rare with an exclusive price tag of around $568,400.

7- Gumpert Apollo

Considered the ninth best accelerating production car in the world, the Gumpert Apollo has an Audi 4.2L V8 engine with a six-speed sequential gearbox, which was influenced by the Formula 1. It has an estimated speed of about 224mph, and requires around 3 seconds to break the 0-60mph barrier.

8- Ford RS200

Despite popular belief to the contrary, the RS200 was not based on the European version of the Escort, as were both its predecessor and successor. Unique in design, the plastic/fiberglass composite body designed by Ghia was built on behalf of Ford by Reliance, a company well known for its expertise in producing bodies of fiberglass. The Ford RS200 can cover 0-60 in 2.8 seconds, and takes on 0-110 in 8.7 seconds. There have been reports of two separate RS200s clocking 0-100km/h under 2.1 seconds.

9- The Bugatti Veyron 16.4 

This vehicle has the distinction of being the fastest, most powerful and expensive street legal car in the world. It has a proven speed of 253.3 mph. There have been other cars, which are faster and more powerful than the Bugatti Veyron, but they have been produced on a very limited basis. The Bugatti Veyron 16.4 holds the best record of 257 mph on a clear road. It costs more than ?1,000,000 ($2 million US dollars).
