Doing any kind of physical work-out is better than doing nothing at all.

You may have to dabble before you find the exercise that works for you. Check out the top 10 exercise work-outs for women:

10. Sleeping. Sleeping?

Sleeping is good for you, but it doesn’t quite qualify as an exercise work-out but it is part and parcel of staying healthy. However, those who sleep the appropriate number of hours – not too few or too many – have better health, lose weight easier and live longer. The right amount of sleep may depend on your specific sleep needs, although you are kidding yourself if you think you can spend an entire lifetime only sleeping four hours a night. This is going to catch up with you and may put you in the grave sooner than you’d hoped. Do not underestimate the importance of sleep. Your body restores and regenerates while you are sleeping. If you aren’t getting enough shut- eye, you are not going to be at the top of your game.

9. Walking

You know the drill. Take the stairs rather than the elevator. Walk to work (if you can) instead of driving. Walking is a good cardio vascular workout and keeps your legs toned. You’ll also get to see the sights that you don’t pay attention to when you’re zooming by in your automobile. You may even run into a cute guy.

8. Belly dancing

This gives you a remarkable workout. It involves isolating different muscles in different areas of your body but particularly in your mid-section. It also strengthens your legs, knees and feet. Your arms get an intense work out too, but your core (abdominal region) gets the best work out of all. After a few weeks of gyrating in your belly dance outfit, you will start to see some definition developing in that area.

7. Lifting a fork

Nope. Just kidding.

6. Spinning

No, we’re not talking about a spinning wheel. Spinning classes entail riding a stationary bike. This form of working out is a very high-energy type of aerobic exercise that is done on a bike that has been designed to provide various levels of resistance. You can lower or raise the resistance of the bike. The more resistance, the more the intensity and the more you are going to feel the burn.

5. Running

Running has numerous health benefits, including warding off osteoporosis, which is porous bone disease, as well as improving your cardiovascular heath. Those who regularly run swear by the health benefits and how it puts them in a meditative state of mind, which helps them release the anxieties that people experience during the course of a regular work day. Runners aren’t fat. They maintain a good weight and have excellent energy levels. To run, you need good running shoes and supportive, perspiration-wicking running apparel.

4. Zumba

Zumba is inspired by Latin music and is a dance program that millions of people love since it’s inception in 2001. It’s a good cardiovascular work-out and means of losing weight because you are dancing fast and furiously, which burns calories. Zumba helps improves your coordination and your mood because as with any kind of exercise, you release endorphins, which are hormones that make you feel good, when you are engaging in a physical activity. Zumba is a lot of fun, and a lot fun pulling on your sassy dance shorts for, too.

3. Swimming

Swimming burns calories, enhances your stamina and builds muscles. It’s also easy on your joints if you suffer from arthritis. It’s an excellent way to relieve stress and increases your flexibility, while improving your posture and giving your lungs and heart a good work-out. If you have lower back or leg issues, swimming is a good exercise option for you because it doesn’t put pressure on your connective tissues as other forms of exercise do. If you don’t know how to swim, invest in some learn to swim aids and sign up for an adult novice class – you’ll love the health benefits.

2. Yoga

Yoga is for the young, middle-aged and old. Yoga clothing, mats and yoga accessories help you personalize your workout. You get to sit and lie down while executing asanas, which are yoga postures. This is a superb workout and helps you maintain flexibility. When you stretch, as you do in yoga, you release lactic acid that has accumulated in your muscles. Lactic acid is what causes you to be tense, stiff, tired and experiencing pain. Yoga enables you to lubricate your joints and soothe your muscles. You will feel better and actually look taller after you have done yoga for awhile because your posture improves, and you lengthen and strengthen your spine.

1. Bike riding

Remember that bike that you’ve stored in your garage and forgot about? Go dig it out from behind the garage clutter and hop on it. Really serious? Invest in a fitness bicycle. Biking/cycling is a tremendous workout. When you engage in cycling, your heart is going to get a great work-out, far better than what it would get if you were walking. Even pregnant women can benefit from biking because there is less stress put on your body. Just don’t fall off. If you feel more comfortable using a stationary bike while pregnant, you will still get outstanding results. Cycling builds stamina, as well as muscle tone and strength, and it increases your muscle tone in your hips, rear end, thighs and legs. Your knee and hip joints maintain their mobility when you regularly cycle, and you will see an improvement in the strength of your leg muscles. Cycling involves every part of your body so it is considered a holistic approach to working out.
