Adding texture to a wall is a unique way to create some visual interest in an otherwise plain space.

10. Sponge painting
This is a popular faux finish painting technique is one of the many ways to texture walls and involves using a natural sea sponge to dab paint onto a wall. Usually a solid wall color, or base color, is used and one or two additional colors are dabbed on with the sponge, sponge brushes and other texturing tools.
